Musician and actor Robin Thicke will be asking a federal judge to view his song 'Blurred Lines' doesn't copy from portions of two other songs.

Attorneys for Thicke plus the song's collaborators, Pharrell Williams along with T. I., filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles in Thursday asking a judge to view their song does certainly not copy songs composed by means of Marvin Gaye and George Clinton.

'Plaintiffs created a popular and did it devoid of copying anyone else's structure,' the lawsuit states.

The suit states representatives with the owners of copyrights to Gaye's song 'Got to Give It Up' and Clinton's track 'Sexy Ways' have warned Thicke that they and his collaborators have used elements of the tunes in the 'Blurred Lines.

'The basis of this Gaye defendants' claims will be that 'Blurred Lines' and 'Got to Give It Up'  feel or sound exactly the same,' the lawsuit states. 'Being reminiscent of a 'sound' isn't copyright infringement. The intent in making 'Blurred Lines' was to evoke a time. '

Reps for Robin Thicke and one of the defendants, Gaye's son Marvin Gaye III, didn't immediately reply to emails seeking comments.

'Blurred Lines' will be spending its 10th full week at No. 1 in Billboard's Hot 100 information. It has sold some. 4.6 million tracks.
